Montrose Drive-In Flea Market circa 1986

Images by Michael Lapides made in 1986 at the Montrose Drive-In Flea Market, an every Sunday event for years before the development of the Montrose shopping area in Akron, Ohio. These photographs focus on the goods and traders that came together every week to make the long gone Montrose Drive-In the most popular flea market in northeastern Ohio.

The sale of the land occupied by the Drive-In, along with hundreds of other contiguous acres, began the inevitable slide from open space to the packed retail, car traffic and asphalt that now occupies the urban sprawl and hydrocarbon haze called Montrose.

Deluxe Matte prints are signed by the artist and made on 11x14 or 12x15 100-year archival Epson Premium 100% acid-free rag paper with the highest quality pigmented inks. Image sizes are 5x7 or 8x10 printed on 11x14 paper to provide the greatest presentation flexibility. The 11x14 image is printed on 12x15 paper. Mats are not included with Deluxe Matte prints.
