Michael's recent photography has been focused on the ubiquitous American fire hydrant and its relationship to its environment. Fire hydrants often look very much like the buildings where they have been placed. Or, is it the buildings have come to look like their hydrant guardians?

Other photgraphs include images from the Montrose Flea Market. Shot in 1986, these photographs depict the thriving commercial activity that used to sprout every Sunday morning on the grounds of this long gone Akron drive-in movie theatre. Now, instead of a lively outdoor market, this location is a giant asphalt parking lot and strip mall with the usual cineplex, homogenized office supply, sporting goods and home improvement stores.
